The Sphinx observatory and research station at the Jungfraujoch is maintained for high altitude research by five European governments .  We followed the usual application proceedures for scientific organizations that want to do research there.  The director made an exception for us to work on art.

The research Station is accessed by a train that ascends to the notch between the Jungfrau and the Munch by a tunnel inside of the Eiger. These are three of the most well known mountains in the Alps. You first see the notch from below just before the train enters the tunnel. The Sphinx observatory is barely visible far above.
